 EVE Slang and Acronym List

I'm reposting my Slang and Acronym list, having returned to EVE. I think it's still a useful resource, but the original thread was locked for inactivity.

When I was a newbie to EVE, I often found that I ran into a wall of acronyms, abbreviations and slang. Sometimes you can figure out what's being said by context, other times by using the Lexicon but quite often I had to ask someone or persist in my noobishness.

So, I present this posting, my attempt to put together a resource for the EVE Community, especially those needing to figure out what all the long-timers are saying to each other.

I'll try to keep this post up to date. I've put some real "duh" ones on here, because the 1-2 day old players won't know some of this.

I've made this list with an eye more toward slang than acronyms, although I include some of the more common ones. This is to be the most help possible to the new EVE pilot.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts for additions.

Your 'nanoship' definition needs a little update imo. Nanoships don't really use nanos much these days :)
More if I think of them.

Done and done. Thanks for the updates. I updated the nanoship description, after today's patch it may need another change. ;)

Yeah, that's a good reference to module acronyms, I had that linked from the original thread.

This list is mostly focused on slang and some acronyms that get really heavy use.

Not quite. "Grid" refers to the local space in which objects are visible to you. "Off-Grid" means an object isn't loaded or visible. One common tactic is to warp in at a range that's within the grid, but outside of locking/shooting range, so as to load all the objects (enemies), and then warp to them for the pew-pew. That way you avoid the grid-load lag.

I'll think about how to consolidate that down to a short explanation. :D

Do you want a bunch of suggestions for how to improve the existing items? Often they are just small changes, even tiny changes, that I think will make the list even more helpful to noobs than it already is.

 Or does nitpicking bother you?

Doesn't bother me in the least. Some of it may be out of date or could use better phrasing. Worst case, if I disagree I won't make the change. ;)

Any input is good, so bring it on.
